MAPS + BCHS
In May and June of 2021, MAPS offered a series of weekly remote art workshops for adults with mental illness in the care of Brooklyn Community and Housing Services, an organization “committed to ending homelessness in Brooklyn” that provides an array of services for “formerly homeless and at-risk children, women and men.” These workshops offered BCHS residents the opportunity to exercise their creativity in a focused setting, taking inspiration from a range of contemporary artworks as they thought critically, solved problems and engaged in discussions around artistic top- ics. In the fall, we were able to work with BCHS residents in-person in joyful weekly creative workshops. Residents have made many beautiful works including paintings, sculptures and more!
