Mālama Honua

In fall 2021, MAPS partnered with Hālāwai (www.halawai.org), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in New York, Hawai’i and the Pacific Islands that serves to “advance and support an inclusive community with shared interests in the culture and future of the people of Hawai’i and other Pacific Islands.” MAPS assisted Hālāwai in the implementation of an art and movement-based curriculum that explores the concept of Mālama Honua, a framework that encourages one to care for one’s particular place and for the entire planet. This program was offered free of charge to the children in the free afterschool program for kids in need at University Settlement’s Campos Plaza.
